Exchange Server 2010 SP2 download out now!!!

Following the announcement from Exchange server team back in May, Exchange server 2010 SP2 is out and available for download here

The most promising thing I see in this release is the new HCW or hybrid configuration wizard which has the potential to automate the connectivity between on-premise Exchange 2010 and Exchange online in Office 365.

ABP’s or Address book policies is another feature which have been long awaiting from Microsoft which will benefit companies doing hosting using Exchange 2010. What this means is that now we can create a new ABP and have a set of users see “only” specific GAL’s. So, if a company X is hosting for company A and B, we can setup a policy for users in Company A to see “only” users for company A.

Another cool thing which is introduced is the Exchange 2010 is OWA Mini based on HTML 2.0. Well, this is the same like the old “OWA Light” which atleast some organizations loved just because it was “Light” and mobile phones accessing emails from non Exchange ActiveSync (browsers) need it badly. Post implementing SP2, you can access OMA using – https://OWAURL/owa/oma

Multi-Tenancy and Hosting is introduced in E2010 SP2 which will now enable organizations to host emails. Read Multi-Tenancy and Hosting Guidance for Exchange Server 2010 SP2

All of this comes with some advancement in the AD Schema. You also need to ensure that you install the “IIS 6 WMI Compatibility component” on all CAS roles before installing Exchange 2010 SP2 or the setup will fail.
