Exchange 2007 to 2013: Public Folders Migration issue

I got this unique issue with no exact issue or solution available over the internet so I am sharing this.

Environment:

Exchange 2013 CU8 lab environment for POC configured as per Microsoft Preferred architecture mentioned here.

http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/04/21/the-preferred-architecture.aspx

4 Exchange 2013 CAS+MBX – 2 servers per AD site

1 FSW in 3rd AD site.

Domain Controller in every AD site.

And

Single Exchange 2007 SP3 Ru 16 with one mailbox and one PF database.

Issue:

When I ran the below command

“New-PublicFolderMigrationRequest -SourceDatabase (Get-PublicFolderDatabase -Server <Source server name>) -CSVData (Get-Content <Folder to mailbox map pathfilename.csv> -Encoding Byte)”

 I got the error.

Resource ‘Processor’ is unhealthy and shouldn’t be accessed.

Resolution:

Initially I fixed the issue by reducing the number of mailboxes to 1 but this just locked down my migration for rest of the mailboxes.

Then I did a roll back

I just realize that 2 PF mailboxes were located in the database in the different AD site.

Move the database to the primary AD site where I had legacy Exchange 2007 database.

Rerun the PF migration and it worked perfect.

Recommendation:

Keep all PF mailboxes in the same AD site until you migrate Public folders from legacy. Post migration you can move these mailboxes to different AD site.

Conclusion:

Keep all migration restricted to one AD site at a time.
