Skype for business – User presence information not changing

Sometimes the user presence is not changing for other users while you are changing it from your side.

The most cases are client side which can be resolved by one of two options:

  • Reset your status: Open client > check the presence > Reset status.
  • Clear the local client cache as following steps:
    • Log out of Lync.
    • Delete any sign-in info.
    • Exit Lync.
    • Navigate to local cache as following:

      Lync 2013 client: C:Users<username>AppDataLocalMicrosoftOffice15.0Lync

      Skype for Business client: C:Users<username>AppDataLocalMicrosoftOffice15.0LyncTracing

    • Delete sip_profileName folder.
    • Delete all files in tracing folder. Do not delete the folder itself.

If you did the two options and the issue still the same that may be caused by the server side performance issue.

Then you will have to check server performance like memory, CPU and disk speed.
