Exchange 2016 – Installation issue with Event ID 1002
One of issues that may face during exchange 2016 installation is the following error:
“Exchange Server component Mailbox role: Transport service failed.
Error: Error:
The following error was generated when “$error.Clear();
install-ExsetdataAtom -AtomName SMTP -DomainController $RoleDomainController
” was run: “Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.ExsetdataException: An error occurred with error code ‘2147504141’ and message ‘This property can’t be found in the cache.’.

at Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Deployment.ManageExsetdataAtom.InstallAtom(AtomID atomID)

at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.<ProcessRecord>b__b()
at Microsoft.Exchange.Configuration.Tasks.Task.InvokeRetryableFunc(String funcName, Action func, Boolean terminatePipelineIfFailed)”.”
With event error ID 1002 with the same error.
This error related mainly to an old Exchange server object still left in AD, you can use the ADSI edit to go to the following path
“CN=Servers,CN=First Administrative Group,CN=Administrative Groups,CN=EXCHANGE ORG,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=yourdomain,DC=local”
After remove the old records you can restart the exchange 2016 installation.
