Exchange 2007 OAB fails with event id 9301 in the application log
This issue will only arise if your migration process from Exchange 2003 to 2007 was not proper. Run ExBPA before starting your troubleshooting steps.
Lets look at the event id logged:
Log Name: Application
Source: MSExchangeSA
Date: 01/28/2010 5:31:45 PM
Event ID: 9301
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: E14-Ratish
Description:Failed to generate offline Address Book CN=OAG Offline Address
List,CN=Offline Address Lists,CN=Address Lists Container,CN=MSEXCHANGEGURU,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=Ratish(Domain),DC=com, error ‘80072030’
The moment you get this, take a look at:
Event ID 9301 is logged in the application event log, and you cannot rebuild the Offline Address List after you delete an address list object in Exchange Server 2003: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842032
This is caused because an exchange 2003 server would be the Sitefolder Server and is not available to process the request. You will encounter n number of other issues if the SiteFolder Server is unavailable while having a mixed mode enviornment.
To know more about SiteFolderServer attribute, refer:
The Site Folder Server public folder store used by the offline address book was not detected: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998322(EXCHG.80).aspx
To resolve this, change the SiteFolderServer attribute on the Offline Address List to a valid one. If you have trouble doing this, send me an email.
